CAMILA DIAZ
Teacher + Program Coordinator
Camila is committed to creating spaces and rituals for people to access their inner resources and wisdom. In her home country of Colombia she has over fifteen years of experience implementing peace education projects with communities affected by the armed conflict and trauma-conscious mindfulness. In New York City she has five years of experience teaching trauma-conscious mindfulness to youth and communities navigating diverse challenges and systems.
Camila started her work with Lineage in 2019. She also worked at exalt youth, an organization that works with court-involved youth in New York City. She was a core member of Respira since its inception, which was one of the first mindfulness organizations in Colombia and also worked with Breathe International, an international NGO that seeks to establish mindfulness as a peacebuilding strategy for diverse groups worldwide.
She is passionate about connecting self-care practices, peace strategies and social justice. She believes that when people are reminded of their self-worth and are given a space to work with their hearts, minds, bodies and ancestry, building resilience and peace from the inside out can be possible and transformation and healing can take place.
Additionally, she facilitates groups in both Spanish and English teaching trauma-conscious mindfulness and somatics. As a new mom and someone who struggled with fertility herself, she is also interested in accompanying women and families undergoing similar situations with the mindfulness, somatic and socio-emotional tools that she has learned along her journey. She is currently finishing a 7 month virtual training with Camila Barrera, Medicina de Mujer (Medicine for Women) in Feminine Sexuality & Pleasure.
She is a certified mindfulness teacher from Lineage Project, Mindful Schools, Breathe International, and Respira in Colombia and a certified yoga teacher through Abhaya Yoga in NYC. She has done some training with Somatic Experiencing and Reesma Menakem and holds a Master’s Degree in Peace Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
